Most of these paintings are about Long Island City, a waterfront industrial community located in Queens, NY. I was inspired by the romance of the quiet streets and small factories, the secret no-name bakeries that supply fancy cakes and pastries for upscale Manhattan restaurants. Factories built long ago by now forgotten entrepreneurs- the visible manifestations of "The American Dream". They are poignant reminders of the cross section of social, industrial economic and cultural dynamics that made this neighborhood so unique.
